Im not exactly a traditional person but Im a fan of a good tradition so with that in mind I give you “Post Euphoria 4: Same Team” a 7-track EP that acts as a companion piece to my upcoming album “Lake Willoughby Levitation Society” (Yup thats the title). In early 2022 I was in the midst of what I understand now as the final days of a long relationship. It was great while it lasted but this was the end. It just took a few months for reality to sink in and Im terrible at knowing when to say when. Having just released Zen Repair a few months prior I should have been focused on letting life breathe and playing shows but I just wanted to be in the studio. I felt like I just found lightning in a bottle creatively and basically just spent every extra minute I could stockpiling a library of bangers. By the spring of 22′ I started working on demos centered around the mantra: “Same Team” which I borrowed from my failing relationship. The initial inspiration was to make a collection of triumphant love songs but I never really got that far… After the break-up my vision for the new album naturally mutated. I really wanted to explore writing narrative songs again and move away from the stream of conscious songs I was making the last few years.
