During the back end of December 2023, Funky DL had a production spark and created a batch of new dance beats in demo form. Contemplating on how this music could shape a full project, DL began to flesh out these ideas with the intention to follow on from his 2021 instrumental dance album ‘NEON’. However, this time something had to be different to set this new collection of songs apart from the previous release. Based on this DL decided that the new element would be the inclusion of full on vocals. The project quickly formed to become ‘NEON II’ and musically sets itself apart from the debut by the heavier emphasis on Disco and Funk, but keeping in with DL’s trademark sound of Jazz inspired chords and soulful Hip-Hop. Tracks such as ‘Sweet Summer Sunshine’, ‘I Like Your Vibe’ and ‘Going Out My Mind’ go a long way to demonstrate DL’s ability to use his voice melodically and harmonically, as well as the straight rhyming he is more commonly known for. The album has a handful of guests, including the New York native ‘PF Elle’, who appeared on Funky DL and vsteeze’s 2021 ‘The Honey Pack’ EP release.
