Come Alive is an exploration of identity. From the unique perspective of Ottawa, Ontario’s KingOsiris, the album digs into topics around growing up, fatherhood, mortality and the exhausting state of modern society. It’s introspective, lyrically dense, and a testament to craft. Every track flaunts clever rhyme schemes and pop-culture punch lines with an everyman’s ease. Upbeat and anthemic songs like Balance and Come Alive are balanced by grittier cuts that tap into the stress and anxieties of navigating adulthood in 2024. Decay is Osiris at his most apocalyptic, and Setback is a posse-cut about economics. Let’s go. The project is produced by long-time collaborator Fotter, whose beats meet the range and originality of Osiris. Though always playful and funky, the tracks suggest a range of influences from the BC producer, whose brand of hip-hop dips in and out of genre conventions.
