“Insane in the Brain” is a 1993 song by American hip hop group Cypress Hill. It was the lead single from their second album, Black Sunday. The song is about the group’s experiences growing up in South Central Los Angeles, and the violence and drug use that they saw on a daily basis. The song is known for its aggressive lyrics, heavy bass, and psychedelic sound effects. It was a commercial success, reaching number one on the Billboard Hot Rap Tracks chart and number 19 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. It has been certified triple platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). The song’s music video was directed by Josh Taft and features the group performing at a rave. It is one of the most iconic hip hop videos of all time.
